BeginnersJack began training in Karate in 1990 when he was 40 years old. He trained at a Colchester dojo in the Higashi style, a style developed from Wado Ryu by sensei Peter Spanton.

Jack graded to 1st Dan in 1997 and to 2nd Dan in 2001.

A short time after, the Colchester club, where Jack trained, moved away from Higashi and joined WKU.  It was here that Jack was promoted to 3rd Dan in 2008 by Sensei Alan Flook.

In 2010, Jack joined Ishinryu and began training under Sensei Andy Bidder at Brentwood Ishinryu and is currently one of the instructors at the club.

Jack runs regularly and has completed the Norwich and Southend half-marathons and the Portsmouth marathon during the last few years.
